A group of
concerned and active Tucson residents has organized to
find a way to preserve A-Mountain so that future
generations can enjoy the beautiful, unspoiled and
undeveloped slope of A-Mountain. The
private land owners are amicable to discussing options
for purchase or trade for their land to permanently
preserve this icon of Tucson.
The area in
question encompasses just under 30 acres, collectively. The
area is zoned both R-1 and R-2. The parcels are
located in the Hillside Development Zone (HDZ) which
lowers the number of homes that can be built on the
slope, but does not prevent development. Without the
HDZ, developers could build 164
homes. The actual number will be less due to the HDZ.
