Every nonprofit seeks to inspire, uplift and add joy and meaning to life. Day in and day out. KXCI sets the pace, through the gift of music. This organization epitomizes the concept of connecting people across a meaningful passion. They add SO much pleasure and inspiration to everyday life, and promote and connect hundreds of nonprofits to people who care. KXCI exposus us to music that impacts our hearts and minds and feet!
I’m so fortunate to have landed in Tucson and enjoyed KXCI as a given fact of life since 1996. We had just moved here and were checking out the Blues Festival at Reid Park. A booth with a banner reading COMMUNITY RADIO caught my eye. One long, friendly chat with awesome volunteers and a simple, two-sided print out (ah the 90s) of the on-air schedule and we were hooked.
Blues, rock, independent, bluegrass, local, roadhouse, rockabilly, folk, surf, honky tonk swing, actually you name it KXCI’s got it, curated and spun by enthusiasts and experts with love and passion. Plus they host A Poet’s Corner, Petey Mesquitey’s unique story/song tellings of the Sonoran Desert, Amy Goodmans Democracy Now, the list goes on.
But it’s not just the music that inspires me to love and support KXCI. It’s also the people. The volunteers, the entire staff and really, just about everyone you meet in association with the station whether on the dance floor at the El Casino Ballroom or any KXCI sponsored event. In fact I always tell my nice single friends to attend KXCI events to meet cool, connected, interesting people who are absolutely likely to be NICE.
A few things have changed since 1996 but the heart of KXCI is exactly what it was then and I’m sure has been, since inception. One beautiful difference is now, we can ALL tune in for an earful at www.KXCI.org. Check it out, pick a program, and take a listen. You’ll never regret it.
I’m so incredibly grateful to partner with KXCI. I’m honored that a custom design from A Nice World celebrates KXCI, helps thank and connect supporters, all while helping ensure a healthy financial future for the station. KXCI is a shining gem in the crown of Tucson and rare, authentic, amazing jewel on the world wide web.
