Align and Celebrate the Winter Solstice

We’re taking the opportunity to celebrate the rare alignment of Jupiter and Saturn on this 2020 Solstice to re-launch a Nice design that has been in retrograde (a little celestial humor) for over a decade.  The Circle of Stars band was originally sculpted in silver clay in the late 1990s and now is being cast in sterling silver to share.

Today is the perfect day to re-release. I adore Winter Solstice, when the darkest, shortest day of the year is upon us and following, the days grow longer and lighter. With each day the sun rises earlier and sets a little later. Bring on the light!

The word Solstice comes from the Latin, ‘solstitium’, which means sun standing (still). This is the perfect time to pause, breathe, sit still for a moment or two. Feel the darkness beginning to make way to the light. Feel the balance of light and darkness and picture the balance tipping toward the light. That’s a wonderful thought to ponder, today and always. Of course, In the Southern Hemisphere, the opposite is true. Dawn comes early, and dusk comes late. The sun is high and the shortest noontime shadow of the year happens there. In the Southern Hemisphere, people will experience their longest day and shortest night. The balance of light and dark…. what a beautiful concept to contemplate today. Learn more at EarthSky.org.

For me, the Solstice means doing just that. I love to be sitting still at the moment of the tilt, blasting light and energy to the universe with joy, while soaking up the light the universe has to offer. Now it means wearing a Circle of Stars band and wishing on the stars. It always includes wearing my Alex Streeter Mermaid which I acquired on the Winter Solstice in 2014. I purchased it then, to remember that today, our dive to darkness slowly curves and we begin to swim ever upward toward the surface and the light.

Let’s align our intentions to the light and see what unfolds. We do so with joy, ease and wonder. Celebrate the light and lean toward it, today and always.
