We the People XIV:
A New Nice Design Inspired by the 14th Amendment and Created on 6/14/2025, now forever known as No Kings Day. Today I focused my thoughts on being an advocate. On pulling to me, that which I want. I also sat in appreciation of the heroes out in all the demonstrations, protesting against what we don’t.
What do I want? Constitutional rights for all. In particular, on this 14th day of June, I want the 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment’s essence is inclusion, dignity, protection, and fairness. It was born out of pain and struggle—but it remains one of the most powerful tools for healing and justice in American law.
I sat, focused and I created a handmade jewelry design to honor this legacy and help protect it. We the People – XIV. This ring is shaped like an unrolling scroll, symbolizing the living, evolving nature of rights. Upon it is soon to be inscribed: We the People. You'll see my blue marking stamps are in reverse - kind of feels like the country a little bit. But soon they'll be forward-facing and full steam ahead. I can feel it in my bones. We can do this. Its our joy, our privilege and our responsibility.
This design, in fact, is rooted in RESPONSE-ABILITY. Because – today – and lets hope forever, we are ABLE to RESPOND. We have the ABILITY to demonstrate, protest, advocate and speak with freedom and the 14th Amendment here in the United States.
Proceeds from this collection will support the ACLU and your favorite organizations working to defend civil rights, constitutional protections, and access to justice. Because freedom is not a given. It’s something we protect - together.
Today there were waves of people across the United States showing up for the country, for community and for the Constitution. As I carved and watched the heartwarming videos of lines of people showing up coast to coast, I sent waves of love and special waves of appreciation to my many friends in neighbors here in Tucson, Arizona, gathered by the thousands in near 111-degree heat. And by the way, I’m taking that number as a new beginning on the way.
Next steps: cast, re-carve the silver original, engrave WE THE PEOPLE, cast again, ship, wear, support, UPLIFT!
More about the 14th Amendment:
Today, June 14, 2025, now known as No Kings Day, is a day to look back more than 100 years to July 9, 1868, when the United States ratified the 14th Amendment in a single, powerful sentence that redefined what it means to be an American.
It granted citizenship to anyone born or naturalized in the U.S.
It protected individuals from unjust state laws.
It promised due process.
And it demanded equal protection for everyone.
Those 85 words remain one of the strongest tools for liberty and justice ever written—and they’re still at the center of today’s most important civil rights battles.
