BICAS Fundraiser
BICAS Pendant – Not for Sale, but Still Spinning Strong
BICAS—Bicycle Inter-Community Art and Salvage—was my very first nonprofit jewelry partner, and more than ten years later, the wheels are still turning.
It all began my first visit to the original shop, when I spotted the word “BICAS” spelled out in pressed bike parts on the asphalt outside their original Citizens Warehouse location. That gritty, brilliant artwork captured their entire spirit—DIY, inclusive, artistic, grounded, zero-waste, and community-powered. When I heard they were moving, I knew I had to honor it and capture the image in a jewelry design.
I sculpted the original pendant by hand, capturing that metal-and-asphalt magic in a precious metal clay sculpture, then casting in bronze and sterling silver. The design became a fundraiser, a thank-you gift, and even BICAS’s Instagram profile photo.
Later, we dreamed up second version, cast in ultra-light silver plate and bronze. They came to life in earrings, keychains, and more. To this day, pieces are still available at BICAS, supporting their incredible work teaching bike repair, creating community art, and keeping cycling accessible to all.
Not for sale here—but visit BICAS for one! They were made to keep this beautiful mission rolling.
