KXCI Community Radio Pendant – Not for Sale, but Tuned to the Heart
KXCI changed my life. Since first spotting a KXCI booth at a community event, then immediately tuning in back in 1996, I’ve been endlessly inspired by the magic of community radio—volunteer DJs, diverse programming, and that enchanting old boarding house headquarters in the heart of Tucson. From Marty Kool’s Blues Review to Broad Perspectives, Jim’s Blueplate Diner, Dead Air, and Democracy Now… every show was a thread in the vibrant fabric of Tucson community connection.
In collaboration with the phenomenal Cathy Rivers, we created this custom two-layer pendant, hand-sculpted in precious metal clay to honor the spirit of KXCI. I still can’t believe how beautifully it turned out. A special edition in solid sterling silver with 14K gold lettering was gifted to a major donor—one of my first Gold Donor projects.
These pendants and keychains were assembled as a team right inside the historic KXCI house—a memory I’ll always treasure. They're not for sale here or elsewhere, but I'm forever full of gratitude for the ripple effect this station has had on my life and so many others.
About the Nice & Not for Sale Collection
Some things in life - and at A Nice World - aren’t for sale. It might be because they’re too sentimental, or one of a kind, or available exclusively through our beneficiaries. Or maybe they were made for a world (Burning Man) where nothing is for sale.
