Tucson Mountain Range Ring – An Homage in Silver and Starlight
I’ve always had a thing for the Tucson Mountains. That rolling ridgeline tells a story—of valleys and craggy outcrops, saguaro-studded slopes, and desert creatures from mule deer to gila monsters, coyotes, javelina, lizards, snakes, and even mountain lions.
But it’s the woman’s profile in repose—visible if you look west down Speedway or Grant—that truly captured my heart. I made this meaningful mountain range ring to honor her. Sculpted from my original sketch, it was one of the first rings I ever made based on a landscape. Back in the late '90s, I had never seen a mountain range ring before—so I made one.
The sparkling cubic zirconia stars are eco-conscious and carefully set to shimmer like the desert sky she’s gazed at for thousands of years. This is symbolic jewelry rooted in place, story, and reverence. I later explored layered and cut-out versions of the mountain range ring —all of which have since sold—but this first attempt at one is mine.
Tiny and wide, it’s a tough fit for most fingers. But more importantly, it holds too much meaning to part with. A wearable love letter to Tucson’s western horizon—and a reminder that not everything beautiful (or even a little flawed) is for sale.
About the Nice & Not for Sale Collection
Some things in life - and at A Nice World - aren’t for sale. It might be because they’re too sentimental, or one of a kind, or available exclusively through our beneficiaries. Or maybe they were made for a world (Burning Man) where nothing is for sale.
