Keyhole Pendant – A Lost & Found Treasure
I sculpted the original more than two decades ago in precious metal clay, (how is that possible?) when I was just beginning my jewelry journey. It was one of the first pieces I ever truly loved. I wanted it to feel like a long-lost treasure washed up on the beach, spotted under a leaf in the woods, or found digging in an old garden bed.
In a poetic twist… it soon disappeared. Tucked away in one of the many dresser drawers, jewelry boxes, pretty vessels of precious things I’ve surrounded myself with. I loved it and poof it went missing for years. I practiced all my Law of Attraction lost and found tricks and yet - for years it was "gone."
And then, one day, just like that —there she was. Tucked away "safely" and somewhat logically but not ideally (LOL) in a simple box. Eureka! The Keyhole Pendant. Just waiting for me, two feet from me every single day, all those years.
This pendant now helps me remember:
Nothing is truly lost.
It may be out of my sight now, but IT WILL BE FUN TO FIND.
Opportunities waiting to be unlocked are always closer than I think.
I have a long held childhood habit to believe in the sentient nature of just about anything and everything. I like to imagine the original lying repose, on soft cotton in her dark, cool box, waiting patiently and KNOWING the lid would be lifted and she'd see me - see her. This makes me think about Rumi writing, “What you seek is seeking you.” I absolutely love to wear this pendant as a reminder of that comforting, poetic truth.
I wanted this piece to feel like a found treasure—and the universe hid it just long enough to make that real. As Abraham-Hicks says, "You just can't make this stuff up."
Of course after dancing around the room with the pendant, I immediately molded and began casting the rediscovered original. She will never be "lost" again. She'll live on in silver and gold, reminding us that doors of opportunity are all around us—and we are the key.
