Introducing the Diamondback Rattlesnake Bracelet
Original. Audible. Symbolic & Gives Back.
Some design inspirations float into my head like a slow-moving cloud crossing a clear blue Tucson sky. Others strike like a rattler - suddenly, with focused clarity, and right on target.
The idea for the Diamondback Rattlesnake bracelet actually struck twice. The first one was the sudden realization of, "Wow... Its literally called a DIAMONDBACK RATTLER what a stupendous jewelry design." Then, while sculpting the first wax model it came to me, "Whoahhhh, this bracelet could be made in two parts to enclose an actual, audible RATTLE."
Boom! The Diamondback Rattlesnake bracelet was born. Hand-sculpted in wax by yours truly; I've never had more fun in all my years making hidden meaning and secret message jewelry. This piece, like none other, is wowing everyone I've shown.
It's so funnnn! I'm loving the looks on everyone's face. They hold the piece, turn it over in their hand, watching the set stones glint and sparkle. - then it dawns on them - they connect the "diamondback" reference and get a huge smile.
At that moment, while they're already enchanted, I make a motion telling them to shake it! The delighted, surprised expressions when they hear the rattle - well - those moments are just exactly what this entire creative endeavor is all about.
I want the Diamondback Rattlesnake cuff to be a connecting conversation piece because it's hiding a clever, original, unique surprise. But I also want it to be deeply personal and meaningful. A stylish but symbolic reminder of the positive impact we can make through conscientious purchases. I want it to be a reminder to follow our instinct and know our inner power.
Proceeds benefit The Center for Biological Diversity, supporting the survival of biodiversity itself. A minimum of 10% of every purchase is dedicated to this incredible powerhouse organization based in Tucson, AZ. I encourage you to click the link to learn more.
I love this piece. From the start I was committed to the highest quality craftsmanship. And as my Mom would say, "That ain't me, babe!" Yes, I can carve and cast, and my ideas are truly inspired. But the couple (or three or four) silversmithing pieces I've made so far, simply aren't up to my own standards for this piece, for perfectly setting the stones and soldering together the two parts of the rattle design.
That meant one thing. Asking Steve Perri to collaborate. Perri Jewelers in downtown Tucson is a well-known and beloved institution. A second-generation jeweler and the absolute best of the best, Steve is also a great resource and talented expert, a fun and curious person. He's open to creative ideas and challenges and he's also a supporter of local artists and nonprofits.
One thing lead to another and now I'm proud to announce that not only the Diamondback Rattlesnake bracelet - but the entire Nice by Nature Collection - can be seen at Perri Jewelers.
Shoppers who purchase any of the other pieces in the Nice by Nature Collection at Perri Jewelers can direct their donations to The Center for Biological Diversity, The Humane Society or Make Way for Books.
Along with the designing and creating, giving back is the fun part. All Nice designs are "purchases with purpose." The donations amplify the power of the pieces as focus objects, meaningful touchstones and steady, shining reminders that we can make a difference and everything we give, always comes back.
